Year One
For those wishing to pursue a comprehensive study of Taiji from The Taiji School, then the best place to start is by attending the first year course.
The First year course syllabus:
- Up and down movement
- Five Relaxing Exercises
- 37 posture Short Form
- Fixed Push Hands patterns;
- The Seven Pushes
- The Double Hand Push
- Roll Back, Press and Push
- The Swinging Arms
- Open and Close
- Round Arms
- The Single Shoulder Push
- The Double Shoulder Push
- The External Press
- The Elbow Push
- Master Huang's 20 Important Points
In the first year we want to start exploring the concepts of complete relaxation, moving from the base, moving in a continuous flow, being suspended from above and to maintain our Central Equilibrium at all times.
At the conclusion of the First Year the students should be able to perform the Five Relaxing Exercises, the 37 Posture Short Form and the Ten Fixed push hands patterns. Most important is that the each movement or sequence should be able to be performed individually in a continuous flow, without hesitation or disconnection. The student should display a clear confidence and relaxed state of being while practising.
An appropriate understanding of Master Huang's 20 important Points is also essential.
